Google Germany had one a few weeks ago when we all were asked to turn of our lights for 15 mins at 20:00

At first I thought something was wrong with my monitor with the black search page. It certainly caught your attention.

That is pretty interesting. I should try find that post I read or some info on the possible energy saving if the Google home page is changed to black.

A black background saves energy only with CRTs. Google had a post on their blog about just that.
