I've had thoughts along the same line as well recently - mostly when I feel like sharing something personal, but don't want to freak out my wide readership too much... People I would've never ever thought would, say to me "hey, I've been reading your blog!" - hmmmm... the effect has been that I've held off on these posts to be safe. It's a context thing, people often need to be weened off the narrow perception they have of a "personality".
Broadly speaking though, it's not a bad thing exposing people to all sides of your personality (within reason of course!), but I'm with you on the caution thing.

We all know that we really have very little privacy on the web unless we don't participate at all but there is still a lot to be said for not publishing every single detail on public blogs like this one. People are sometimes stalked by readers of their blogs and while this might not be a real risk in SA just yet, I tend to be a tad circumspect about revealing too much to an unknown audience.
