Nokia E71 on the horizon

Started by pauljacobson · 9 months ago

I am pretty much set on the E71 as my next phone which I hope to buy in the next month or so. I have had a terrible experience with my Nokia N73 Music Edition (to the point where I have had happy dreams about smashing it - literally).

I have read a couple reviews [...] ... Continue reading »

  • This phone looks really tempting =) I'm such a huge Nokia fan and that qwerty keyboard is The Business! Would love to hear your feedback when you get it ...

  • Oh, for sure! I will make a point of blogging my experiences with the phone. Just gotta save up that R6 800 for the phone ...
  • I think you'll be very happy. The main flaws are the lack or a 3.5mm headphone jack and the non-autofocus (press T) camera. I guess we can't have everything just yet.

  • Thanks Jonathan. I am pretty keen on that phone after watching your video. It helps to see the camera in action to get a sense of how responsive it is (one of my issues with my N73). I am not too fussed about the headphone jack because I don't use my phone for music (I am practically surgically attached to my iPod). As for the autofocus, that is just odd. I thought autofocus was pretty much standard on these camera devices?
  • the camera thing seems like it could be fixed in firmware. The E66 has auto-focus ... press the shutter down and it snaps into focus. When the N73 was released it was fine, but as I moved through the N80 and N95 it was clear how much faster devices have become. The ESeries devices are VERY optimized around messaging compared to media and imaging so if that's what you are looking to do, you'll really love it. I've been very happy the past few months with this device
  • I have been using my N73 for email, microblogging and web browsing quite a bit lately so I have been tending more towards a phone like this as opposed to something that is more media focussed. After using my iPod I'm not sure that I would migrate to a media capable phone that quickly. I'd rather move from my iPod 5th gen to an iPod Touch when they have more capacity than look at something like an N96 or whatever the big media N-series is.

My phone is my communication device, I have other devices for other stuff. Now when an iPhone (or even an Android phone) is released that does both jobs better, I'll reconsider, but that is a big decision considering the integration of my media on my Mac.
